Dr Andreas - Pediatrics West team

Dr. Andreas Athanasiou

Dr. Andreas Athanasiou is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is originally from Greece and received his medical degree from the University of Athens, Greece, in 1970. He completed his pediatric residency at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City and served an extra year as chief resident at Beth Israel Hospital. Dr. Athanasiou also completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology at the New England Medical Center Boston. He was an instructor in pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Athanasiou is an active medical staff member at Emerson Hospital.

Dr. Russell Coleman - Pediatrics West team

Dr. Russell Coleman is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He received his Bachelor’s of Arts from Cornell University, New York and received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He completed his pediatric residency at Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, Ohio in 1995. He then went on to serve twelve years of active duty in the United States Air Force as a Major. Dr. Coleman’s interests include asthma and allergies, school problems, and the use of computers in medicine. Dr. Coleman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics. He also serves as the school physician for the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District, the Nashoba Regional School District, Innovation Academy, and the Academy of Notre Dame. Dr. Coleman is an active medical staff member at Emerson Hospital.

Dr. James Daly is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He received his Bachelor’s of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He received his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School and completed his pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin where he served an extra year as chief resident. Dr. Daly grew up in Willimantic, Connecticut and his clinical interests include well-child care, newborn care, childhood obesity, and children with complex medical issues. Dr. Daly is a courtesy medical staff member at Lowell General Hospital and is an active medical staff member at Emerson Hospital.

Dr. Joan Eagan is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She completed her Bachelor’s of Arts at the University of Virginia and Post Baccalaureate Pre Med-Program at Tufts University. She received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed the Boston combined residency program at Children’s Hospital Boston and Boston Medical Center. Her clinical interests include well-child care, newborn medicine, adolescent medicine, and sports medicine. Dr. Eagan serves as the school physician for the Westford school system, is a courtesy medical staff member at Lowell General Hospital and is an active medical staff member at Emerson Hospital. Dr. Eagan is a member of the Board of Directors for the Emerson Physician-Hospital Organization.

She is originally from the Philippines where she completed her Bachelor’s of Science and medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. She completed her pediatric residency at Winthrop University Hospital in Long Island, New York, where she served as a chief resident. Her clinical interests include newborn care, well-child care, preventive medicine, and adolescent medicine. Dr. Garcia is a courtesy medical staff member at Healthallliance Leominster-Clinton Hospital and is an active medical staff member at Emerson Hospital.

Dr. Behzad Goharfar - Pediatrics West team

Dr. Behzad Goharfar is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is originally from Iran where he attended medical school at Tehran University. Dr. Goharfar completed his pediatric residency at Children’s Medical Center Hospital in Tehran and worked as a pediatrician for 10 years before immigrating to the United States. He completed his pediatric residency at Harlem Hospital, New York, NY, and has worked as a pediatrician since 2012. In his free time, Dr. Goharfar enjoys spending time with his spouse and daughter and learning about life in New England. Dr. Goharfar is an active medical staff member at Emerson Hospital.

She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Her clinical interests include well-child care, asthma and allergies, and newborn care. Dr. Eliza Jones

Dr. Eliza Jones is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She received her Bachelor’s of Arts from Amherst College and received her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. She completed her pediatric residency at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. Dr. Jones enjoys developing long-term relationships with families and helping with all the illnesses and behavioral concerns that arise over time. She has an interest in autism and kids with special needs. Dr. Jones is an active medical staff member at Emerson Hospital. She speaks conversational Spanish.

Dr. F. John McLaughlin - Pediatrics West team

Dr. F. John McLaughlin is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is originally from England and received his medical degree from Trinity College, University of Dublin, Ireland. He started his pediatric training at the National Children’s Hospital in Dublin and completed his residency training at a Yale-affiliated program in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Dr. McLaughlin completed a pulmonary fellowship at Children’s Hospital, Boston. He was then appointed to the staff as an instructor in Pediatrics, at Harvard Medical School. For several years he has practiced as a primary care pediatrician in Fitchburg and as a part-time consultant at Children’s Hospital, Boston. His special interests include respiratory illnesses in children, asthma, chronic lung disease, and cystic fibrosis. Dr. McLaughlin is a courtesy medical staff member at HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster and an active medical staff member at Emerson Hospital.

Dr. Sheehy is from Lexington and his clinical interests include well-child care, preventative medicine, musculoskeletal disorders, dermatology, and adolescent medicine. She completed her Bachelor’s of Science at John Carroll University and received her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. She also completed her pediatric residency at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Her clinical interests include newborn care, well-child care, and adolescent medicine. Dr. Michelle Sanders, Emeritus

Dr. Michelle Sanders is a former physician at Pediatrics West and has recently retired from medicine. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She completed her Bachelor’s of Arts at Williams College and then spent four years teaching high school before earning her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children in Boston. Her clinical interests include newborn care, well-child care, growth and development of former preemies, and care of children with complex medical issues.
